Heartburn during pregnancy

Heartburn during pregnancy is one of the symptoms of the pregnancy. How it appears, a pregnant lady observes a burning in their throat or chest. Some women also experiences that something small is stucked in their throat. But whatever it is any way it is makes you uncomfortable.

Causes of Heartburn Pregnancy

  • There are many reasons, due to which you feel heartburn in your pregnancy. The most common reasons which causes heartburn during pregnancy are the hormonal changes in your body particularly progesterone level, when progesterone level increases this relaxes the valve which prevents the acid from your stomach to move into esophagus. When this acid backed up in the esophagus it causes irritation and heartburn during pregnancy.
  • Another reason for heartburn in the pregnancy is indigestion which is caused by the uterus, when uterus gets bigger in size in your last weeks of your pregnancy, which exerst pressure on your intestines which also causes your stomach acid to reflux in to esophagus, and thus causes heartburn and irritation during pregnancy.

What to do to treat heartburn in pregnancy

  • Just break your large meals into smaller ones, and instead of taking it 3 times a day tale it six times a day, When you starts taking your meal in smaller chunks this will help in digestion of your food completely. And thus prevent you from constipation and heartburn during pregnancy.
  • Try to avoid the foods which are spicy and more oily, because these aids in constipation and heartburn in pregnancy.

Treating Heartburn During Pregnancy
While you can’t adjust your hormone levels or stop your uterus from growing while pregnant, there are some simple measures you can take to help reduce heartburn and in some cases prevent it altogether. Here are some tips for minimizing the discomforts of heartburn during pregnancy:

  • Eat several small meals during the day instead of three large ones. This will help reduce the pressure on your stomach and help ease the digestion process.
  • Avoid foods that are spicy or overly fatty, as this can contribute to heartburn in pregnancy.
  • Take plenty of fluids in your diet, these helps in digestion your food, which may causes the heartburn in pregnancy.
  • Take plenty of water and fruit juices daily this will also helps in reducing constipation and heartburn during pregnancy.
  • Don’t lay down just after taking your meals.
  • Avoid caffeine, tea and other  such kind of materials too regularly. These also increases acidity and causes the heartburn and constipation during pregnancy.
  • Try to take milk with honey, this will also reduce your heartburn to some extent.
